Curtains are a decoration and a functional element of every room, because they dampen outside noise, shade and prevent unwanted looks inside. If you make them yourself, you will save a lot and you will enjoy your mind every day!
The basis of successful production of curtains is quality fabric. Decorative fabrics for curtains have a separate category in our e-shop . When you order a fabric from here, you will definitely not reach for it. In general, it is advisable to choose fabrics with a higher weight and you do not have to worry about polyester at all. It is perfect for curtains - it dries quickly and you don't have to iron them.
Recently, shading, so-called black out fabrics have been a hit. An example is the popular German darkening decorative fabric Malibu with a leather motif, in a decent natural color (a standard meter of fabric 150 cm wide costs CZK 540). If you love flowers, you will be thrilled by the NARA decorative fabric with poppies , which look like watercolors. The windows are gorgeous! And it costs only 170 CZK per meter (width 140 cm).

How much fabric is needed for curtains?
Sewing curtains and hanging them on the clamp, the so-called flip-flops, is a thing of the past. Today, there are many ways of modern pleating curtains and drapes :

It is true that the higher the hinge, the wider the bottom hem should be . You can often see curtains 300 cm high with a bottom hem as high as 30 cm. Such a hinge is then beautifully pulled out, because the hem itself takes care of it with its weight. We recommend a hem 10 to 15 cm high for a 250 cm high hinge. Do not forget the pencil to the edges of the curtains (for curtains longer than 200 cm, use the largest, 50g pencil). A lead cord of various weights (from 14 g to 150 g per meter of fabric) can be sewn into the hem of the hinge additionally. For heavier curtains made of a coarser fabric, you need a heavier cord.
